The family crest which acts as the logo of this site has been derived from a signet ring which is a family heirloom. Only two are known to have existed. Sadly one of them has been lost over time. The rings belonged to my grandfather (Johannes Godfried Kerlen) and his brother (Ernst Frederik Kerlen) and were given to them by their grandmother (Charlotte Bonney Baumgarten).
The crest is that of the Baumgarten family. With the help of AI the following image was generated from the photograph of the actual ring and the subsequent crest was generated from that.
The ring in the above photograph belonged to Ernst Kerlen and was gifted to my parents by my father’s cousin whilst on a trip to Australia.
